A new principal at McAlester High School is a familiar face from the district.
McAlester Public Schools Board of Education members voted Monday to approve the hire of Krista Curley as high school principal.
âThank you all for this opportunity,â Curley told board members during the meeting. I m very excited for this new role.
Curley was serving as the assistant principal at Puterbaugh Middle School for the past two years. She replaces Mendy Tubbs, who resigned this academic year due to personal reasons. I m excited for her, MPS Superintendent Randy Hughes said. She s got a lot of energy and a lot of excitement and I think she s going to do a great job.

The Staff Council at Oklahoma Baptist University hosted a special professional development opportunity for staff members Thursday, April 22. The group welcomed guest speakers Jeff and Kathy Madison, owner/operators of the Shawnee Chick-fil-A, to lead two identical sessions on brand development and customer service. The events took place in the Geiger Center on the OBU campus in Shawnee.
The Madisons led staff members through various aspects of customer service, emphasizing that at both OBU and Chick-fil-A, the way customers interact with employees largely determines their perceptions about the organization. They discussed many aspects of successful brand development with regards to managing customer interactions, delivering a quality product, resolving customer issues, and remaining consistent in how customers experience the University. As Recipients of Federal Preparedness funding through the USDOE s Readiness and Emergency Management for Schools (REMS) and Emergency Management for Higher Education Discretionary Grant Program, local educational institutions and schools are required to fulfill NIMS implementation activities in close coordination with members of their local government and emergency response community. Lowak Shoppala expresses Chickasaw identity through the medium of modern classical music and theatre through eight scenes and features orchestra, narration of a libretto by Chickasaw poet and Pulitzer Prize finalist Linda Hogan, children s chorus, traditional Chickasaw and classical vocal soloists, and Chickasaw storytellers. Each scene (Fire and Light, Double Header, Shell Shaker, Clans, Removal, Spider Brings Fire, Hymn, Double Header & Finale) depicts a part of Chickasaw culture and history and is sung in Chickasaw.
