EAST WATERFORD A Feb. 9 residential fire on state Route 75 in Lack Township that took the life of one man remains under investigation by the Pennsylvania State Police Fire Marshall, said East Waterford Fire Company Chief Jason Overholt.
Overholt said when firefighters arrived to the Juniata County blaze at just after 3 a.m., there were visible flames on both floors of the home, which had burned to the point it was already structurally compromised. “We were not able to make entry safely,” he said.
He also said the status of the fire upon arrival made the chances of finding any survivors inside virtually zero, meaning an attempted search and rescue by firefighters would be very risky with little chance of saving a life.
