ESU launches new scholarships for transfer, first-generation, top-ranked students
East Stroudsburg University has announced new scholarships to benefit transfer students, first generation college students and top-ranked high school graduates.
“We’re trying to be responsive to what’s happening in our community,” Karen Lucas, vice president of enrollment management, said when announcing the scholarships this week. “We know that there’s been so many circumstances where people have lost jobs, where they might have had to use their college savings to supplement their income or to cover the rent.”
Students transferring to ESU from community colleges can now receive scholarships of up to $6,000 per year, depending on their grade point average. Transfer student awards previously maxed out at $2,000, Lucas said.

WARMINSTER, PA A 26-year-old Warminster man who has battled aggressive cancer since high school is fighting once again after needing surgery that removed one-third of a lung.
Meanwhile, friends of Chase Berlin are rallying around him and trying to help with the expenses another costly round of cancer treatment will bring.
Berlin, who grew up in Holland and graduated from Council Rock South in 2013, got out of the hospital on Monday after having a piece of one lung removed because two masses were found. It s just the latest round in a years-long cancer fight for the East Stroudsburg University grad.

A total of 1,543 students, including Connor Rebello from Darien have been named to the Dean s List at East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania (ESU) for the Fall 2020 semester of the 2002-2021 academic year, according to Joanne Bruno, J.D., provost and vice president for academic affairs.
Students eligible for the Dean s List are those who have attained a 3.50 quality point average or better and are enrolled full-time. The letter grade B earns 3 quality points per credit, and the grade A earns 4 quality points per credit.
