THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HAS ISSUED A FIRE WEATHER WATCH FOR THE ENTIRE SUSQUEHANNA VALLEY, AFTER SEVERAL BRUSH FIRES THIS AFTERNOON. MORE THAN 50 ACRES BURNED IN FANNETT TOWNSHIP, FRANKLIN COUNTY. FIRE CREWS FROM FRANKLIN, CUMBERLAND, PERRY, AND JUNIATA COUNTIES WORKED INTO THIS EVENING TO GET CONTROL OF THE FIRE THAT STARTED AROUND 2:00. HERE YOU CAN SEE VIDEO OF HELICOPTERS GATHERING WATER FROM A NEARBY LAKE TO AIR-DROP ONTO THE FIRE. Allegheny County Game Warden Zeb Campbell reports an archery hunter was hunting white-tailed deer during the closed season between the regular firearms season and late deer season. The hunter, who believed deer season was open, received over $800 in fines. “A reminder to please read your Pennsylvania Hunting & Trapping Digest,” Campbell said.

If you see a coyote, make a loud noise, and don’t run from them. Running often elicits their natural predator instinct to kick in and they will sometimes chase you. It is the same as running from your dog; a technique often used by trainers to get them to return to you.
Dauphin County Commissioners award $6.1 million in gaming money to more than 80 recipients

The Dauphin County Commissioners recently awarded $6.1 million to municipalities, schools and organizations in the county.
The funds are from the gaming dollars from Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Course in East Hanover Township and available through the casino local share revenue program.
The Dauphin County Gaming Advisory Board presented recommendations to the commissioners for recipients of funding. Those recommendations were made following application and hearing processes. Person struck by truck in crash that closed I-81

Pennsylvania State Police public information officer Trooper Megan Ammerman said the southbound lanes of the highway are closed at mile marker 78.4 in East Hanover Township, and traffic is being detoured off of Exit 80 to Grantville.
State troopers were already on the scene investigating a crash when another vehicle hit the vehicles involved in the original crash, Ammerman said. A person was struck and is suffering a major injury, she said. The investigating trooper and another driver had to dive out of the way to avoid being struck.
