The Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act (PLCAA) has long protected the gun industry from abusive lawsuits that the anti-gun Left would file if they could. No gunmaker can be sued for mass shootings or anything where their products were unknowingly and unwillingly used in a crime. It must be something serious that knowingly selling to FFLs that did business with straw purchasers or worse, sold guns with issues, like defective safeties, and did nothing about it.
These are legitimate legal points from which to file a lawsuit. Suing a gun maker simply because you hate the Second Amendment isn’t in the cards. The anti-gun Left knows this. They know the PLCAA is probably here to stay barring some seismic shift in elections. They still rail against it and call for its repeal. Joe Biden has joined that chorus now. If you want to get a pro-gun person riled up, call the AR-15s “weapons of war.” Hell, call any semi-automatic since the Garand a weapon of war and we’ll likely lose our crap.
After all, the military hasn’t really fielded semi-automatics as a primary battle rifle since Korea, and that was 70 years ago.
That doesn’t matter to far too many people, in this day and age. They love throwing that term out there regardless.

The very name of the guns certainly sounds ominous enough, and may convince many to ask the question “why does anyone need a weapon of war?”

The child s 25-year-old father was shot in the head and his mother, 22, suffered a leg wound, according to Sagadahoc County Sherriff Joel Merry.
The toddler was struck in the face by the recoil of the handgun, Merry added.

That is how these groups plan to win over the public. Consider it a marketing campaign like no other. In this case, it is directed by various groups that have continued to spread misleading “facts” about these firearms.
