LOWER MERION â Just over a decade after the new Harriton High School was built to accommodate 1,250 students, itâs about to undergo a further expansion for more students.
This week, the Lower Merion Planning Commission got a fresh look at the latest plans to add classroom space to Harriton High School to accommodate more students.
The plans call for constructing a three-story addition with a 4,862 square foot footprint for six new classrooms and four labs.

Along with the classrooms, there will be a new parking lot with 29 spaces next to the bus lot and the installation of 36,394 square foot concrete pads at different locations around the campus.
LOWER MERION Over the last several years, construction of most of the new mixed-use buildings in Lower Merion has taken place in Bala Cynwyd and, to a lesser degree, Ardmore. But now some of that development is moving westward with recent projects in Haverford and Bryn Mawr.
In February, the Lower Merion Board of Commissioners approved the tentative sketch plan for a new four-story mixed-use building at 355 West Lancaster Avenue in Haverford.
Those plans included the demolition of five office buildings and constructing a new 58,597 square foot footprint mixed-use building.

The new building will have 121 residential units with 4,000 square feet of first-floor retail space.
LOWER MERIONÂ â A developer in Lower Merion plans to teardown one home and then add six new houses on a site in Bryn Mawr.
This week, the Lower Merion Planning Commission got its latest look at the proposal when it reviewed and recommended the board of commissioners approve the siteâs preliminary plans.
The project includes two existing lots on the 1000 block of Mt. Pleasant Road near Roscommon Road in Bryn Mawr.

Under the plans, the two lots, located at 1064 and 1080 on Mt. Pleasant Road, would be consolidated. The existing home at 1064 would be demolished.
Six new lots, each with a single-family home, would then be constructed with access on a cul-de-sac. Since the combined lot is 7.3 acres in size, it falls under the townshipâs open space preservation district overlay that requires an area of open space. As part of the project, there will be a 4.26-acre preservation area on the property.
