RICHLAND COUNTY, S.C. One person is dead after an accident involving a motorcycle and a truck outside of Columbia on Saturday.
According to South Carolina Highway Patrol Master Trooper Brian Lee, the crash happened around 2:15 p.m.. in the area of Garners Ferry (U.S. 378) and Lower Richland Boulevard.
Lee said a 2016 Chevrolet truck was heading west on Garners Ferry when it attempted to make a left turn onto Lower Richland Boulevard in front of a 2016 Yamaha motorcycle.
The driver of the motorcycle died of injuries sustained in the crash and the passenger was taken to an area hospital for treatment. That person s injuries were not released.

But Richland County has a different history that, while not hidden, is not as well known as the monuments you might be thinking of.
According to one researcher, the Midlands county has the most public memorials to Black women of any county in the United States.
Richland County has 17 monuments to Black women nine historical markers, three historic sites and at least five street names.

HOPKINS, S.C. (WIS) - Deputies say a teenager was shot to death in Richland County on Thursday.
The shooting happened around 4:30 p.m. in the 2100 block of Horrell Hill Road, the Richland County Sheriffâs Department said. Thatâs near Lower Richland Boulevard just outside of Hopkins, in the southern part of the county.
Deputies said the teen boy was shot in the upper body. Crews rushed him to the hospital, but he did not survive.

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) - One teen was killed and another was hurt in a shooting in Columbia on Monday, the Richland County Sheriff’s Department confirmed.
It happened around 8:40 p.m. in the 200 block of Shagbark Avenue. That’s off Padgett Road near Lower Richland Boulevard, just north of Garners Ferry.
Deputies found a 16-year-old with a gunshot wound at the scene.
Crews rushed him to the hospital, but officials have not shared his condition.
