LANSING The Michigan Occupational Safety and Health Administration inspected and issued COVID-19 safety citations to 23 different workplaces with violations, the state announced Friday.
Twenty businesses were cited for COVID-19 emergency rules citations and three others were fined for general duty citations. Each citation carries a fine of up to $7,000.

Among the details in the citation, MIOSHA found:
Five corrections officers tested positive for the coronavirus between April 17 and May 6. The first officer who tested positive told a member of the MDOC’s contact tracing team of a positive test result on April 20. The officer was not interviewed to identify close contacts. Those five officers and two other employees ate lunch together regularly in a breakroom but were not identified as close contacts to the first officer who tested positive. “Since they were not identified as close contacts, they were not required to self-quarantine at home for 14 days, thus potentially exposing employees to SARS-CoV-2 virus.
