AHMEDABAD: Gujarat recorded 11,403 new COVID-19 cases on Monday, the highest one-day count so far, while 117 patients died due to the infection, the most in a day, the state Health Department said.
This is for the first time that the number of fresh coronavirus has crossed the 11,000-mark in a day in Gujarat.

With the Covid cases on the rise throughout India, health authorities and medical departments are busy and on their toes to curb the flow of the virus. Amid all this, the Kumbh Mela gathering didn t help the cause and it led to many devotees flocking their way to the Kumbh, violating social distancing norms at will.
Thus, people returning to the state of Gujarat after their visit to the Kumbh Mela, in Haridwar, will now have to undergo an RT-PCR test. Only then, will they be allowed to enter their respective cities and villages, Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani said on Saturday (April 17).

Officials said a total of 49 people who came to Gujarat after attending the Kumbh Mela in Haridwar have tested coronovirus in two days.
A statement from the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) said that out of 533 people who were tested at Sabarmati railway station in the city on Saturday and Sunday, more than 49 people were found positive. .
All infected individuals were transferred to the city’s Kovid Care Center.
On Saturday afternoon, rapid antigen tests were carried out by train from Haridwar on their arrival at 313 Kumbh Return Sabarmati. Of these, 34 individuals tested positive, the release said.
