KABUL, May 23 (Xinhua) Ten development projects have been putting into use in Afghanistan s eastern province of Laghman, the Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development said on Sunday. Costing 12.9 million afghani (over 167,000 U.S. dollars) the projects have recently been completed by the Citizens Charter National Priority Program (CCNPP) within Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development in different parts of Qarghayi district of Laghman, the ministry said in a statement.
The projects included 150 meters water canal in the Mansour, 260 meters water canal in the Bagh, 150 meters canal in the Andruz, 120 meters canal in the Aripur, 300 meters canal in Tarakhil-e-Ulya villages, as well as the asphalting of several villages roads and construction of 550 meter supporting walls along a rivers in Qarghayi, the statement said.

Washington, December 11, 2020 The World Bank Board of Executive Directors today approved two grants totaling nearly $85 million from the International Development Association (IDA), as part of a $393 million financial package to help Afghanistan alleviate COVID-19 impacts and improve access to clean water, sanitation, and public services.
COVID-19 has imposed a severe social and economic burden on Afghanistan. As they face the pandemic and ongoing conflict, many poor and vulnerable Afghan households subsist on daily earnings, have little or no access to water, sanitation, or healthcare.
