MINSK, 27 April (BelTA) – Deputy Chairman of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus, National Coordinator for Sustainable Development Goals Anatoly Isachenko has met with UNICEF Representative in Belarus Tanja Radocaj, BelTA learned from the press service of the upper chamber of the Belarusian parliament.
The parties discussed the status and prospects of bilateral cooperation with UNICEF through the National Coordinator for Sustainable Development Goals, including on the eve of International Children s Day, which is celebrated on 1 June.
“It is important for us to build cooperation on concrete projects, which are tangible for the citizens of Belarus. That is why I would like to stress once again the importance of the regional aspect in our work,” the vice-speaker of the Council of the Republic said.
Belarusian parliament s upper chamber passes amendments to laws on extremism
MINSK, 21 April (BelTA) – Members of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus have passed a bill on amending the laws on counteracting extremism, BelTA has learned.
Prosecutor General Andrei Shved said: “It is very important for us that the Council of the Republic has passed a bill aimed at counteracting extremism. The proposals and novelties the bill incorporates have been prompted by life, by the need to protect our country, sovereignty, our territorial integrity.”
In his words, international experience was taken into account in the course of preparing the bill. “The norms the bill stipulates provide for a complex of balanced measures. Those are prophylactic, preventive, and punishing measures. In other words, the state takes every measure not only to punish but primarily to prevent, to detect and, only after those measures are implemented, to decide on the responsibility
Bill to amend laws on mass media in Belarus approved
MINSK, 21 April (BelTA) - Members of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus approved the bill to amend the laws on mass media at a meeting of the fifth session on 21 April, BelTA has learned.
The bill is aimed at ensuring the constitutional right of citizens to receive complete and reliable information, the protection of state and public interests in the field of mass information, and national security in the information sphere.
“The practice of applying the legislation on the mass media has shown that we have certain gaps, which, unfortunately, have been exploited by our unprincipled colleagues. The amendments that were adopted today by the members of the Council of the Republic are aimed at eliminating these gaps or bottlenecks in the legislation,” Information Minister Vladimir Pertsov said.
Belarus Council of the Republic passes bill to prevent Nazism rehabilitation

MINSK, 21 April (BelTA) – Members of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus approved the bill to prevent the rehabilitation of Nazism at a meeting of the fifth session on 21 April, BelTA has learned.
“This bill is a part of the set of measures meant to nip such activities in the bud. Everyone should understand that in the current situation, manifestations of Nazism are an element of the war against the Republic of Belarus. It is called a hybrid or information war, but its main aim is to seize power and destroy independent Belarus,” Belarus Prosecutor General Andrei Shved said.
