UN Resident Coordinator Coumba Mar Gadio
Diplomats are international citizens. For the period they are in Zambia, they are actually Zambians. They are the eyes and ears of the world in Zambia. Their job is to objectively shine light on what is happening in the country. If they keep quiet, the world will think everything is fine in Zambia. Notwithstanding their diplomatic postings and their need to respect local politics, diplomats have a responsibility to maintain an international order that respects democracy and human rights. At the top of this responsibility are United Nations (UN) diplomats, led by the Resident Coordinator, the leader of all UN agencies in any country.

The lawyer pointed out that the applicants’ apartments in the block project, behind the al-Rahma Hospital and al-Jaouneh neighborhood, and opposite the General Company for Electricity have been surveyed by the governorate.
Sierra Leone Telegraph: 26 January 2021:
Following a request from Sierra Leone’s Ministry of Health and Sanitation in 2020 to meet the urgent needs of the country’s COVID-19 response, the UN has helped to arrange the shipment of one hundred thousand disposable face masks donated by Guo Kong Health Management Company Limited in China.
The consignment of face masks valued at over US$30, 000, was today presented to the Ministry of Health at the World Health Organization’s (WHO) Riverside office in Freetown.
Presenting the face masks on behalf of the UN in Sierra Leone, the Resident Coordinator, Babatunde Ahonsi said that the donation is the result of South-South and Trilateral Cooperation (SSTC) between the People’s Republic of China and the Republic of Sierra Leone, built on multiple partnerships including the UN and the private sector in support of a national public health response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

I am most thankful first and foremost to God for His grace and mercy upon my life; and I am ever so grateful for the generous feedback, love, and support from all of you since my appointment by the United Nations Secretary General. I am genuinely humbled. Getting to lead the United Nations’ operational system (all of the agencies, funds and programmes) in Nepal as the Resident Coordinator at a time of multiple intersected crises is a major responsibility, but it is also a privilege that I do not take for granted. My first international post was a 4-month temporary contract in Nepal; and to return there to lead the entire UN team is uniquely special.
