Resident Evil Village Quests Give PS4, PS5 Players More Exclusives

Resident Evil Village players on the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 already benefitted from some bonuses before release with those players getting first dibs on the demos whenever they were available, but the exclusives apparently aren’t done yet. Sony and Capcom announced this week that players on both PlayStation consoles can complete a series of quests to earn rewards depending on what console you’re playing on. You don’t even have to have the game itself to get these rewards, so if you’re planning on getting it but don’t have it yet, you can secure your bonuses ahead of time before the offers expire.

Capcom have announced that Resident Evil Re:Verse, the 6v6 multiplayer deathmatch game that was to ship for free alongside Resident Evil Village has been delayed until an unspecified date later this Summer. The news broke when Capcom emailed members of it’s Resident Evil Ambassadors program with the new date, and they have also updated the official site.

Not too long ago Capcom held another Resident Evil Showcase that revealed some more gameplay for the upcoming 8th installment. But the livestream also announced a limited-time PC demo that would only be available for 24 hours. Now, after some feedback online, Capcom has decided to extend the demo by a week.
The original Resident Evil 8 demo period started on May 1st/2nd (depending on your region) and ended the day after on May 2nd/3rd. However, that has since been extended, and the PC demo will start on the same day but instead finish on May 9th/10th.

Sometimes marketing is a pain in the neck and the Resident Evil Village demo slots are a great example of bad marketing. The cunning idea was that everyone is limited to when they can play the demo so social media and streaming services are flooded with the game, thus pushing it to the top of Twitter and Twitch and giving Capcom a bunch of free advertising.
However, with very narrow time slots many people missed on on the demo so Capcom have finally caved in and announce the final demo slot will run for one week rather than just twenty-four hours. You will still only get to play for sixty minutes but you can do so at a time that suits you rather than one that suits the, well, suits, at Capcom.
Last week during Capcom’s Resident Evil Showcase stream, the publisher announced that Resident Evil Village will indeed be getting a demo. There was just one problem – it would only be available in a small 24 hour window. Fortunately, Capcom has decided to reconsider and as a result, the demo will be available for a much longer period of time.
In an update posted this afternoon, Capcom said: “we’ve heard your feedback and are extending the availability period” for the hour long Resident Evil Village demo.
The demo will now be available in the US from 5PM PDT on 1st May to 5PM PDT on 9th May. Here in the UK, that works out to 1AM BST on 2nd May to 1AM BST on 10th May. In Europe, it will be available from 2AM CEST on the 2nd of May until 2AM CEST on the 10th of May.
