SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) - The Florida Department of Health today confirmed 272 new COVID-19 deaths statewide since Thursdayâs update.
A spike in death tolls does not indicate that all deaths occurred in the last 24 hours, just that the reports were received by the state. The DOH is reporting 25,011 deaths statewide and 1,627,603 positive cases since the pandemic began.
The stateâs positivity rate is back up to 12.37%. Manatee and Sarasota County also increased to 9.50% to 7.03% respectively.

SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) - The Florida Department of Healthâs Thursday update shows a slight dip in the statewide positivity rate.
Thursdayâs update shows a positivity rate of 8.54% statewide. Manatee and Sarasota Counties both reported a significant decrease with 4.86% and 4.93% respectively. Itâs an almost 12-point drop in Manatee Countyâs number from Wednesday which skyrocketed to 16.33%.
Since March, the DOH has reported 1,613,884 cases statewide. Thatâs an increase of 12,683 cases since Tuesdayâs update.
The Florida Department of Health posted its Wednesday dashboard update with the state reporting a 10.73% positivity rate. Manatee County experienced a significant spike reaching a 16.33% positivity rate. Sarasota County is reporting 8.32% positivity.

SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) - The Florida Department of Health is reporting a 10.55% positivity rating for the state in its Monday update.
Since March, the state has recorded 1,488,586, an increase of 11,640 cases in Sunday’s Dashboard. 23,071 resident deaths have been reported since the pandemic began.

Florida DOH reporting 185 new COVID-19 deaths (Source: WALB) By ABC7 Staff | January 8, 2021 at 3:15 PM EST - Updated January 8 at 3:16 PM (WWSB) - The Florida Department of Health is reporting a slightly decreased 11.43% positivity rate in its daily COVID-19 Dashboard update.
Sarasota and Manatee Counties also have a decreased percentage rate at 6.43% and 9% respectively. Since March, the DOH has recorded 1,449,252 total cases of COVID-19 and 22,666 deaths, an increase of 185 deaths since Thursday’s update. That does not mean that all new deaths occurred in the last 24 hours.
