Heal the Hood Foundation of Memphis wanted to bring some entertainment and hope during the pandemic and streaks of violent crime. Friday night, families enjoyed a movie, giveaways, and food trucks in Hickory Hill, all while raising money for the new Hero Empowerment Center.

(WMC) - In the midst of a pandemic, the Heal the Hood Foundation of Memphis is bringing excitement to the city with a family-friendly event. The nonprofit will host its first drive-thru movie night, featuring Adolpho Shabbadoo Quiones and Michael Shrimp Chambers on May 14 at 6:30 p.m. The fundraiser is for the brand new Hero Empowerment Center, created to reduce crime and violence in the city of Memphis.

We re in the final 12 days before Christmas, and one local organization wants to make sure families in need have a happy holiday. The Heal the Hood Foundation of Memphis kicked off its 12 days of Christmas deliveries Saturday. Wednesday, organizers delivered clothing and toys to a Hickory Hill family whose home burned a few months ago. A middle school student was severely burned in the fire. Thanks to a generous donor, the family was able to get everything on their wish list.
