Australia’s heavyweight gold medal hope Justis Huni will miss the Tokyo Olympics after injuring his hand in last week’s win over Paul Gallen.
The injury is believed to have occurred in the opening round and could see the 22-year-old out of the ring for five months.
Huni injured both hands sparring against Semisi Kalu in the lead up to the Gallen fight. He punched through the pain in his victory against Christian Tsoye and needed a needle for his left thumb before facing Gallen.
