Rage Retires And Guthrie County Sheriff s Office Is Raising Funds To Replace K-9 Unit | CBC Online

The Guthrie County Sheriff’s Office has been fortunate to have a K-9 program and have recognized Rage has been an invaluable tool in the investigation and apprehension of suspects involved in the manufacture and distribution of illegal narcotics. However, Rage has retired due to the unfortunate shooting of her handler last fall and the onset of hip problems. Now that Rage is enjoying life on the farm with her former handler, the Sheriff’s Office is working to raise money for a replacement with not one, but two dual-purpose K-9 units. These dogs will not only help with the ongoing war against drugs, they will also be used for criminal tracking and apprehension, premise searches, finding lost children or elderly residents, aiding neighboring law enforcement agencies and educating area students. Driver Believes Accident Was Result Of Falling Asleep Behind The Wheel

A Coon Rapids man believes he fell asleep at the wheel, causing him to leave the roadway. The Guthrie County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene on Highways 141 and 4 at approximately 6:35 a.m. Wednesday morning. Upon arrival, they learned that 18-year-old Blaine Everett Dudley was eastbound in a 2007 Mitsubishi Eclipse and had lost control on a southbound curve, left the highway and came to rest in the ditch on the southwest side of the road. Dudley was transported by Panora Emergency Medical Services to the Greene County Medical Center with possible injuries. There was an estimated $4,500 in damage to the Eclipse.

No Injuries But $5,000 In Damages From Monday Morning Guthrie Center Accident

Corrections have been made below.    There were no injuries reported but an estimated total of $5,000 in damages from a two-vehicle accident in Guthrie Center Monday morning. The Guthrie County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene at the intersection of 9 th and Main Streets at approximately 7:46 a.m. Thirty-four-year-old Ashlee Gayle Marie Wolfe of Guthrie Center was northbound on 9 th Street in a 2017 Chrysler Pacifica and stopped at the posted sign at the intersection. Twenty-eight-year-old Erica Marie Cleveland, also of Guthrie Center, was traveling westbound on Main Street in a 2019 Dodge Journey. Wolfe failed to yield to the Cleveland vehicle and struck it in the front driver side, causing an estimated $3,500 in damage

No Injuries But Portable Stop Light Damaged In Guthrie Center Accident

A Van Horne woman was uninjured after losing control and striking a portable stop light Thursday in Guthrie Center. The Guthrie County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene at approximately 12:30 p.m. Twenty-nine-year-old Angelia Mae McAtee was traveling westbound on Iowa Highway 44, near N. 8 th Street, through a one-lane construction zone when she hit a bump. She told authorities the suspension on the 1999 Pontiac Grand Prix she was driving was poor and the jolt caused her vehicle to shift to the right and hit the portable stop light. There was an estimated $1,000 in damage to the Pontiac and $5,000 in damage to the stop light.
