Many Mackay families are expected to experience greater levels of uncertainty this Christmas.
Salvation Army corps officer Steve Spencer said people in Mackay have experienced some form of financial stress and everyone was affected by the situation in some way.
“A person may not have the funds to spend which in turn means businesses and service providers experience less trade,” Mr Spencer said.
He said there were many causes for financial stress.
“We are currently seeing the culmination of multiple factors impacting our community,” he said.
“Many of the non-government and government agencies are supplying the best of services with the limited resources.
