Hwy lane remains closed after Mount Larcom truck crash

Premium Content Subscriber only UPDATE 9.35AM: The southbound lane on the Bruce Highway near Mount Larcom remains closed after a truck crash early Wednesday morning.  A Queensland Police Service spokeswoman said manual traffic lights were set up by Department of Transport and Main Roads.  The latest update on Queensland Traffic at 9.18am states speeds have been reduced due to a damaged guardrail in the area.  The site suggests delays are to be expected and drivers are urged to drive with caution.  More to come.  INITIAL 7.30AM: The southbound lane on the Bruce Highway is closed after a truck crashed near Mount Larcom State School on Wednesday morning.

Drink driver should have had interlock fitted

Premium Content Subscriber only A man was caught drink driving at more than three times the normal limit while subject to having an interlock device fitted to his car for previous offending. An Ipswich court heard Sukhdev Singh was pulled over at 1am on April 2 in Gatton, blowing 0.172. Sukhdev Singh, 29, from Gatton, pleaded guilty in Ipswich Magistrates Court to driving under the influence of alcohol; and driving without an interlock device fitted. Prosecutor Sergeant Paul Caldwell said police intercepted Singh on Golf Links Drive. Checks revealed the driver was subject to a licence condition that he must have an ignition interlock device fitted from February 3, 2021 until February 2, 2023.

Gladstone man narrowly avoids jail time after driving charge

Premium Content Subscriber only A man with an unflattering traffic history, narrowly avoided jail time after appearing in Gladstone Magistrates Court on Tuesday. Karl Ferdinand Laber, 29, pleaded guilty to unlicenced driving. Police prosecutor read the facts of Laber’s case, which started on February 22 at 3.41pm. The court heard that police were conducting roadside breath tests on Auckland St, Gladstone Central, on February 22 at 3.41pm, when they intercepted a Subaru and Laber submitted to a licence check. He immediately advised police he was unlicensed and had not been to Queensland Transport to pick his licence up after a recent disqualification.
