Annual Law Enforcement Memorial Ceremony set for May 12 in Onalaska

ONALASKA, Wis. (WKBT) The Onalaska Police Department, in conjunction with the La Crosse County Sheriff’s Office and the La Crosse Police Department, will host the annual Law Enforcement Memorial Ceremony at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 12, at Dash Park in Onalaska.
The program, which traditionally takes place during National Police Week, will pay tribute to fallen officers from area law enforcement agencies.
The event will include a ceremony, music by select members of the Onalaska High School Band and light refreshments.
Dash Park is at the southeast corner of Second Avenue, which also is State Hwy 35, and Main Street.

A crash involving an all-terrain vehicle killed a 90-year-old man near La Crosse, Wisconsin on Saturday.
According to the La Crosse County Sheriff s Office, 90-year-old Dennis Wood was driving an ATV with a 45-year-old passenger onboard.
Wood attempted to turn on Schroeder Road in Bangor Township when he lost control and was ejected from the ATV.
Wood died at the scene. His 45-year-old passenger was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries.
No further information has been released.

BANGOR, Wis. (WKBT) – La Crosse County Sheriff’s Office and the Wisconsin DNR were dispatched for a fatal ATV crash early Saturday morning.
Dennis Wood, 90, was driving side by side UTV near County Road II in the Township of Bangor. He was attempting to turn onto Schroeder Road when he lost control and was thrown from the vehicle.
A passenger, Brian Shaw, sustained minor injuries and was taken to the hospital. Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the incident.

LA CROSSE, Wis. (AP) Authorities say a 90-year-old man was killed and his 45-year-old passenger was injured in an all-terrain vehicle crash in Bangor Township.
The La Crosse County Sheriff’s Office said Dennis Wood was trying to make a turn at an intersection Saturday morning when he lost control of the vehicle and was ejected. Deputies said he died at the scene, WEAU-TV reported.
Wood’s passenger, Brian Shaw, received minor injuries, and was taken to a local hospital, authorities said. Top Picks In Shopping
