Private colleges and universities in New England were some of the first to announce they ll require vaccination for all students returning to campus this fall. Some of the region s state colleges and universities have also begun to follow suit – but not all of them. Thousands of COVID-19 appointments still available in RI

Journal Staff EAST PROVIDENCE  As Rhode Island opened up its COVID-19 vaccinations to everyone 16 and over, teenagers and young adults were looking forward to loosening the reins on their social life.  Starting Monday, anyone who lives, works or goes to school in Rhode Island is able to register to receive a COVID-19 vaccine at one of the state-run vaccination sites, along with pharmacies such as Walgreens and CVS, and some supermarkets.  At Walgreens on Warren Avenue in East Providence, Emily Roche, 18, of Cranston, said her senior year has been a big, fat nothing. She is still learning remotely, and, although she has been seeing her friends, all of the usual senior milestones, like prom, are up in the air.
