Folks traveling to and from the North Shore into Boston via commuter rail will notice fewer trains running in the coming weeks.
Beginning Monday, Dec. 14, the commuter rail is operating a reduced service schedule due to low employee availability caused by COVID-19 absences, according to a press release issued by Keolis and the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA).
“The MBTA and Keolis, like other employers in Massachusetts, have experienced an increase in COVID-19 cases over the past 10 days,” the release stated. “The Reduced Service Schedule will run at least through Dec. 27. During this time, the MBTA and Keolis will monitor employee availability to determine if the Reduced Service Schedule needs to remain in place for an extended period.”
