The Florida Police Chief Association had opposed the measure at a previous committee stop.   “The government should have to meet the same standards and processes for accessing our personal information in the digital form as the constitution set out for information when it existed only in hard copy,” Vittorio Nastasi of the Reason Foundation told the panel.  SB 144 would establish as a legislative finding that Floridians “should not have to choose between using household technological enhancements and conveniences or preserving the right to privacy in one’s home.”
