‘I’m going to die tonight’: Armed suspect shot, killed by Winter Haven police officer By FOX 13 News Staff Published  Catherine Hawley reports WINTER HAVEN, Fla. - Winter Haven police shot and killed Larry Jenkins, 52, Saturday night after they say he pulled a gun on them while responding to a 911 call.  According to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, the agency investigating the officer-involved shooting, a 21-year-old woman called 911 shortly after 10 p.m. regarding an armed disturbance on Orchid Springs Dr. in Winter Haven.  Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd said the woman called 911 after she and her husband, Joshua Caldwell, went to Jenkins home to pick up her 14-year-old sister. Judd said the woman told deputies that when they arrived, Jenkins and the 14-year-old girl were at the residence alone.

LAKELAND – More than 4,000 people were scheduled to receive their first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine Wednesday at Polk County s largest clinic to date.  The Florida Department of Health in Polk County held its first mega POD  at the RP Funding Center in downtown Lakeland. The event kicked off at 7 a.m. offering immunization by appointment-only to those who had registered for Polk s vaccine waiting list. I think they have this event organized really well, Roxy Hoover, 74, of Winter Haven said. There was absolutely no wait. A POD, or Point of Dispensing, is a site used in the event of a public health emergency to mass distribute vaccines, medications or medical supplies.
