COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) â Coldwater Community Schools Superintendent Terry Ann Whelan has announced that they intend to have K-12 students in the district return to five days of face-to-face instruction starting on Monday, May 17 and continuing through the rest of the school year.
Whelan said, âwe feel it is important to end this year with a sense of normalcy, to provide as much in person instruction as possible and to prepare for five days of face-to-face instruction in the fall.â
Whelan credits continued safety protocols and mitigation strategies as the reasons behind the move to five days of face to face instruction.
The school will open almost two years after ground was broken on Western Avenue in Coldwater.
The new school came about after voters in the district approved a nearly $30 million millage and bonding proposal in November of 2017 by a vote of 1,867-1,747.
The new school will replace the nearly six decade old Lakeland Elementary School building.
The funds from the millage have also paid for new buses and building improvements throughout the district.
