COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) â Coldwater City Manager Keith Baker told the Coldwater City Council on Monday night that a section of Waterworks Park is closed in order to restore the location after it was heavily damaged by natural forces and improper parking.
Itâs estimated the section will be closed at least until the fall, possibly as long as next spring.
Baker says signs and fences have been placed throughout the area to protect newly planted grass, flowers and other items as they take root.
The City plans to post a video about the closing on its web site and social media platforms.
Resident frustration is already building but road construction projects are just getting underway in and around Coldwater.
Early Monday, an asphalt paving process by Branch County Road Commission crews tied up traffic near the Jonesville I-69 interchange. The short stretch was from the Mud Creek bridge west of Gorbell Road to the interchange. Trucks from Walmart Distribution and Clemens jammed the one-way section of the road along with other traffic.
This is not the main work scheduled for the road. A contract to pave from Fiske Road to the Hillsdale County line was delayed from 2020, due to the pandemic. It is set to occur in late July. The road commission then will continue its repaving from the interchange west to Marshall Road.
