Summer Tomahawk Food Truck kick-off held Friday
Nearly 200 adults and children were at Friday’s Summer Kick-Off Celebration at Hillsboro Elementary School for the 2021 season of the Hillsboro City Schools Child Nutrition Program. The Hillsboro Liberty Lions Club presented a check for $100 to assist with the additional Tomahawk Food Truck stops planned for the summer. According to regulations under Title 7,
Code of Federal Regulations (7
CFR), Section 226.17a(b)(1)(i), in order to establish eligibility for reimbursement, the CACFP At-Risk Afterschool Program can only operate after school, or on weekends, holidays, or school breaks while the regular school year is in session with the exception of year round schools. At-Risk centers may not claim during summer school which includes weekends and holidays. The current and new release of the U.S. Department of Agriculture waivers pertaining to the CACFP does not waive the above requirement as to when meals under the At-Risk Afterschool Program can be served.

At least 998,176 people in North Carolina have tested positive for the coronavirus and 12,987 have died since March 2020, according to state health officials.
The N.C. Department of Health and Human Services reported 581 new COVID-19 cases on Monday, down from 821 on Sunday and 1,020 on Saturday. State officials don t update coronavirus case counts over the weekends.
