Frontline workers around Indiana line up for first vaccine doses

Dec 14, 2020 / 10:44 PM EST INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) There are close to 400,000 health care workers in Indiana. The state is expected to receive 350,000 doses of the Pfizer vaccine in the next 16 days. This week, five primary hospitals, including IU Health Methodist Hospital, and 50 additional hospitals and clinics are expected to receive a few thousand doses that will be given first to frontline staff who work directly with COVID-19 patients. The very first batches of vaccine arrived in Indiana on Monday morning and were administered just after noon in Fort Wayne to health care workers. Dr. Ram Yeleti of Community Health Network told I-Team 8 that some of the first people to receive the vaccination are health care workers and those in long-term health care facilities.  

ISDH: 129 more deaths from COVID-19; 7-day positivity rate at 24 5%

Dec 15, 2020 / 12:06 PM EST INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) The Indiana State Department of Health has released new COVID-19 information for our state. ISDH says 4,347 more Hoosiers have tested positive for the virus. Those tests were conducted between Nov. 8 and Dec. 14. Of those tests, 4,316 were conducted on Monday. A total of 434,642 Hoosiers have tested positive for the virus. ISDH says 129 more Hoosiers have died from COVID-19. The newly-recorded deaths occurred between Nov. 8 and Dec. 14. 6,657 Hoosiers have died from the virus. Another 311 probable deaths have occurred, but a positive test is not on record. The 7-day positivity rate for unique individuals stands at 24.5%. The 7-day positivity rate for all tests stands at 12.5%.
