Speakers called for effective measures for the rehabilitation of children caught in the web of criminal groups like drugs and human traffickers. In a statement, the Group Development Pakistan (GDP), which is working on protecting and promoting child rights and strengthening child protection and justice with children across Pakistan, said the video song was released to raise awareness on justice with children and the benefit of reformative justice.

Efforts were made to establish child courts in the province aimed at providing expeditious, child-sensitive and fair justice to children in contact or in conflict with the law as envisaged in the Juvenile Justice System Act (JJSA) 2018, and other relevant child protection laws and the Constitution. The SHC, with the assistance of Group Development Pakistan (GDP), a local civil society organisation working on protecting and promoting child rights and strengthening child protection and justice with children across Pakistan, transformed the physical spaces to make a child-friendly and conducive environment for the children visiting the courts.

Sindh Gets its First Child-Friendly Juvenile Courts

Sindh Gets its First Child-Friendly Juvenile Courts Chief Justice of the Sindh High Court (SHC) Ahmed Ali M. Shaikh inaugurated the province’s first juvenile court on Tuesday. According to an official statement, the juvenile court has been established in accordance with the Juvenile Justice System Act (JJSA) 2018 and the Constitution of Pakistan at the Malir District Court to speed up the judicial proceedings of cases involving children. ALSO READ The court will conduct the hearings of complaints and cases against children below the age of 18 and will pass verdicts on such matters within six months of each case. The SHC had collaborated with a civil society organization called ‘Group Development Pakistan (GDP)’ to transform the juvenile court premises into a child-friendly area that will be calming and stress-reducing. The court is also equipped with toys and books to help juvenile delinquents deal with pain and mental trauma in a stress-free environment.
