Patrick Collins Jnr pinched catalytic converters from parked vehicles across Cheshire, including in Warrington. The 18-year-old, from Blackburn, tried to flee on foot after Cheshire Police’s roads and crime unit used a stinger in a bid to stop his Vauxhall Vectra in Congleton in September last year. Officers had previously been looking for the car as part of an investigation the string of thefts. Tools used to steal converters were found inside the vehicle, and Collins was arrested a short distance away. On Monday, May 17, he was handed a 26-month prison sentence suspended for two years at Crewe Magistrates Court after admitting going equipped for theft.

Police are appealing for help in tracing a 37-year-old who failed to appear in court.

A THUG who repeatedly kicked and punched a homeless man as he lay helpless on the floor has been jailed. The 39-year-old victim had been seeking shelter at Bridestone Shopping Centre, in Congleton, when he was attacked by John Hall, 50. In an unprovoked attack, Hall beat the homeless man at around 8.30pm on Saturday, May 16 last year. Hall, of John Street, Macclesfield, pleaded guilty to assault by beating and was handed an 18-week prison sentence at Crewe Magistrates Court on Monday, January 4. During the court hearing, the judges were shown CCTV footage which clearly showed Hall repeatedly kicking and punching the victim as he lay on the floor.
1/1 A CHESTER man who pleaded guilty to criminal damage was temporarily sent to custody after a foul-mouthed tirade in court. Ranjit Guardial-Singh Virdi, 62, of Brook Street, appeared at Chester Magistrates Court on Tuesday, January 5, where he admitted damaging bollards at Chester Probation Service at Chester West Employment Park on December 11. But after taking offence to a comment made by a probation officer during a positive probation report, Virdi reacted angrily, shouting and swearing in the dock despite repeated attempts by the court legal adviser to tell him to stop talking. Court security was called and Virdi was sent down while magistrates retired to consider their verdict.
