Dr. Joleen Aguon, GMH s COVID-19 medical director, said the vaccine couldn t come soon enough. She was one of the first people on the island to get the vaccine last Thursday when the first vaccinations began.  Aguon said the year has been tough as a doctor, as a mother, as a family member, and as a leader. The loss has been hard. It s very difficult when you lose a patient, and we ve lost a lot this year, she said. She said while there is still unknown about the vaccine, the risk for severe disease or death from COVID-19 outweighs the unknowns.
