GUWAHATI: A SpiceJet freighter from Pune via Kolkata delivered 2,40,000 doses of Covishield vaccines for Assam and Meghalaya at Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International (LGBI) Airport in Guwahati at around 5pm.
Assam health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said, “We are starting the involution exercise for doctors and nurses from January 16 morning at 74 designated locations across the state.” The state health department aims to vaccinate 7,400 beneficiaries on day one, with 100 in each of the 74 locations.
“Phase-wise every citizen of Assam will receive the vaccine and for free,” minister of state of health Pijush Hazarika said.

GUWAHATI: The first consignment carrying 2.4 lakh doses of Covishield vaccine reached the Guwahati airport from Pune on a Spicejet freighter on Tuesday afternoon.
Over 730 kg of cargo carrying 20 boxes containing the vaccine doses was handed over to health officials of Assam and Meghalaya within nine minutes of the landing. The boxes were received by the Airports Authority of India’s cargo wing Airports Authority of India Cargo Logistic and Allied Services Company Ltd at the domestic cargo complex in Guwahati airport at 4.58 pm. The SpiceJet flight SG-7715 arrived here from Pune via Kolkata and departed for Hyderabad, the AAI said.

Hubballi airport to house North Karnataka s first cargo terminal
Hubballi Domestic Airport is ready to house North Ka mate ka s first dedicated domestic air cargo terminal, that would be expected to start functioning from February 2021. The Airports Authority of India - Cargo Logistics &Allied Services Company Ltd, has given in-principle approval for conversion of the old passenger terminal into the cargo handling section.
Hubballi Airport Director Pramod Kumar Thakre has stated that the upcoming cargo terminal shall have secured storage space for both inbound and outbound cargo, a dedicated room for valuables and dangerous goods, along with provision for commercial space that can be utilised by airlines, major freight forwarders/logistics players like postal authorities and e-commerce players. The 700 square metre cargo terminal shall have annual cargo holding capacity 15,000 MT, he said.
