The country s apex trade body FBCCI has constructed a multi-storey building in Old Dhaka s Hatkhola without an approved design and that s why it could not use the high-rise for a long time. The Hatkhola building remains empty for three years. Because the design of the building was not approved. We recently had the design approved, said FBCCI President Sheikh Fazle Fahim.
He was addressing a virtual programme marking the inauguration of the trade body s new logo and renovated federation building, FBCCI Icon, in Motijheel.
Fahim said the ownership of the Motijheel building is not yet in the name of Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI). The process is underway to take over the ownership and it is expected to be completed soon, he added.

The High Court today cleared the way for holding election to the posts of directors of Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) on May 5.
The court discharged the rule it issued earlier, questioning the inaction of the authorities to halt the election process and the decision to continue the process for holding the election amid the pandemic.
The HC bench of Justice M Enayetur Rahim and Justice Sardar Md Rashed Jahangir came up with the order following a petition filed by the election board of FBCCI, seeking discharge of the rule.

Fake voters and political pressure exerted by the voters backed by ruling parties mainly dominated the election over the last few years, they said, all on condition of anonymity.
