1. Covid-19 cases exceeded the 5,000 mark for the third day. However, the Health Ministry said the surge for the last three days was due to a backlog in cases.
There were 289 Covid-19 deaths in January, averaging 9.3 deaths per day.
2. Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said any form of traditional or Islamic treatment for Covid-19 needs to be scientifically tested.
3. Mestron Holdings Bhd clarified that it does not have clearance from the Health Ministry to purchase or distribute Covid-19 vaccines.
Private practitioners welcome govt roping in GPs to monitor Covid-19

The Federation of Private Medical Practitioners’ Association (FPMPAM) has welcomed the government’s upcoming move to task private general practitioners (GPs) with monitoring some Covid-19 patients.
However, it called for more guidance for the GPs.
