WASHINGTON The government of Taiwan, based on its analysis of the U.S. tire market, is planning to urge the International Trade Commission (ITC) at a hearing May 25 to render a negative final jury determination in the U.S. government s pending investigation of passenger and light truck (P/LT) tires from Taiwan and three other Asian nations.
In a 13-page written submission to the ITC ahead of the May 25 hearing, the Taipei Economic and Cultural Representative Office in the U.S. argues that: … we respectfully urge the ITC to conclude that the domestic U.S. P/LT tire industry is not suffering material injury nor threatened with future material injury by reason of P/LT tire imports from Taiwan.

The Financial Supervisory Commission (FSC) yesterday told publicly traded companies to postpone their annual shareholders’ meetings from Monday next week to the end of next month to curb public gatherings amid a surge in COVID-19 infections.
A total of 1,931 companies had planned to convene their shareholders’ meetings during the period, but the FSC has made it mandatory for them to delay the events to July or August, it said.

WASHINGTON Hwa Fong Rubber Ind. Co. Ltd., Taiwan s No. 5 tire maker which goes to market under the Duro brand, has added its support to the proposal four other Taiwan tire companies put forth a week ago as an alternative to import duties.
Cheng Shin Rubber Ind. Co. Ltd., Federal Corp., Kenda Rubber Industrial Co. Ltd. and Nankang Rubber Tire Corp. Ltd. submitted a proposal to the Department of Commerce on Jan. 13 asking the U.S. government to consider suspending its antidumping investigation into imports from Taiwan in exchange for pricing oversight on shipments into the U.S.
