CONNECTICUT, USA The Connecticut Department of Labor announced a new tool Thursday to help people who need unemployment claims assistance.
The new Consumer Contact Center tool will allow people to schedule a call back up to two weeks, a release from the CT DOL said. The tool is available on the filectui.com homepage.

The agency also released early application timelines for the new federal Mix Earner Unemployment Compensation program which was established under CARES Act II.

Sal Gatanio says he lost his job in April, and has dealt with financial hardship since then, like so many facing unemployment during the pandemic.
“At first, with the $600 extra that the government gave out with the pandemic unemployment assistance, that was great,” he said. “Once that stopped in the end of July, for the past six months, it’s just been brutal.”
He says he felt some relief Thursday after seeing the first Federal Pandemic Unemployment Compensation (FPUC) payment of $300 pop into his account.
“I have a smile on my face now,” he said. “For the past couple of weeks, I really have not had a smile on my face.”
