AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) - The extension allows those who are unemployed due to COVID-19 to receive payments for an additional 11 weeks.
The Texas workforce commission says they have started procession over 1 million active claims.
For those who are under the pandemic Unemployment Assistance program and had already exhausted their benefits, the extension will renew for another 11 weeks.
Similarly, for those under the Pandemic Emergency Unemployment compensation program, payment will be extended until that March 13th date or up to 24 total weeks, again whichever comes first.

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. Eligible New Yorkers will start receiving extended and expanded federal unemployment benefits beginning this week.
On Tuesday, Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced that federal unemployment benefits have been extended for 11 weeks and that the New York Department of Labor (DOL) is prepared to begin issuing payments as soon as legally permissible under federal law.

WHEN WILL EXTENDED BENEFITS START?
Employment Security Department (ESD) Commissioner Suzi LeVine shared this statement on the ongoing rollout of the new federal stimulus measure, which extends and expands federal unemployment benefits:
“Unemployment benefits are a lifeline to unemployed workers impacted by the COVID-19 crisis, and all help is welcome. Our team has been and continues to work quickly and nimbly – especially in light of the many changes that have occurred this past week – to implement this new federal legislation.
“Because of work completed over the holidays and the past several weeks, we expect to update our systems?quickly enough to maintain continuity of benefits for nearly all claimants, including Pandemic Unemployment Assistance (PUA) recipients whose benefits expired prior to Dec. 26. We also expect to start processing the additional $300 per week, called Federal Pandemic Unemployment Compensation?(FPUC), on Jan. 15. As always, these funds can take
