Riverside looking ahead with Johnson & Johnson vaccine distribution and last updated 2021-03-08 22:33:12-05 HAMPTON ROADS, Va. – With its single-dose shot, Johnson & Johnson’s COVID-19 vaccine offered hope to many medical workers rolling up their sleeve at a clinic over the weekend, which was coordinated by Riverside Health System and the Virginia Department of Health. Riverside’s Vice President and Chief Pharmacy Officer Cindy Williams said all 600 doses were administered in a matter of hours. “There were even some individuals that had been waiting for the J&J vaccine to come out,” she said. “It’s a very effective vaccine. I would ask individuals to keep an open mind, not consider it to be a second-class vaccine, because there’s some real value in having a vaccine that is a single dose.”

Augusta teachers begin to receive COVID vaccines

COVID-19 vaccines were made available starting Monday by the Georgia Department of Public Health after Gov. Brian Kemp announced two weeks ago teachers and school staff would be now be eligible. Wilson was among the first Richmond County School System employees to receive the Pfizer vaccine Monday at Craig Houghton Elementary School.  Richmond County School employees will not be required to get vaccinated but are encouraged to do so. Recently released guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention state those who have received their COVID-19 vaccine may get together with other fully vaccinated individuals in small groups inside their homes without masks or physical distancing.

Gov. Wolf Says Rite Aid Pharmacies In State Will Receive Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 Vaccine For School Employees And Students CBS Pittsburgh 3/6/2021 Syndicated Local – CBS Pittsburgh HARRISBURG, Pa. (KDKA) A Pennsylvania pharmacy chain is gearing up to help get teachers and students safely back in the classroom. Rite Aid Pharmacy announced on Friday that it will soon begin administering the Johnson & Johnson coronavirus vaccine at its vaccination sites. The pharmacy said it plans on using allocated doses of the vaccine to get shots into the arms of educators, school staff and child care providers. Governor Tom Wolf said Rite Aid is “an integral part of the vaccination effort” and the pharmacy has “agreed to use their Johnson & Johnson vaccine allocation to give child care workers who provide an essential service the option to get a vaccination.”
