Ex-Congressman Duncan Hunter Gets 11-Month Prison Sentence By Alberto Garcia Disgraced former Congressman Duncan D. Hunter was sentenced to 11 months in prison on Tuesday for misusing campaign funds on personal expenses including vacations, video games for his son, private school tuition for his kids, and even an airline ticket for his pet rabbit. Prosecutors had asked U.S. District Court Judge Thomas J. Whelan to sentence Hunter to 14 months in prison, and Hunter’s defense lawyers asked for home confinement. Both Hunter and his wife, Margaret, were each charged in a 60-count indictment for misusing more than $250,000 in campaign contributions and purposely falsifying financial disclosure records to hide the unlawful personal expenses, sometimes listing them as contributions to wounded warriors.

Brindisi Tenney NY22: 2,400 voter registration forms not processed

More than 2,400 electronic voter registration applications, received before the state’s Oct. 9 deadline, were not processed in time for the election in Oneida County, according to testimony from an elections official in Oswego County Supreme Court on Friday.  The issue of unregistered voters was first discussed at length during Thursday’s proceedings. At least 63 voters in Oneida County who completed registration forms through the state Department of Motor Vehicle Motor Voter online form were included in contested ballots in the race for New York’s 22nd Congressional District.  Republican Claudia Tenney leads Democrat Anthony Brindisi in preliminary results by 29 votes. The congressional district is the only contested House of Representatives race remaining in the country and awaits the results of a ruling from state Supreme Court Justice Scott DelConte.
