Jan 29, 2021 9:43 AM DeLand, FL - Volusia County Schools officials are urging parents to complete the Free/Reduced Meal Application soon, as the deadline is just two weeks away, on February 12th. Fewer families have completed the application this year which could negatively affect funding for the 44 Title 1 schools in Volusia County. Title 1 means the schools have a high poverty ranking, which qualifies them for federal funds. Officials say even if you re not sure your family qualifies for access to free/reduced-price meals, you should complete an application. The application is available in English and Spanish and should only take a few minutes to complete online. The application can be found at vcsedu.org. For those without access to a computer, all schools have a computer available for use. The schools also have paper applications. On January 15, 2021, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) announced the initial pilot projects selected for the Connected Care Pilot Program (“Pilot Program”) for telehealth services. The list includes 14 pilot projects spanning 11 states and more than 150 treatment sites, totaling $26.6 million awarded of the allotted $100 million under the Pilot Program.
The First Round of Funded Projects
The 14 selected pilot projects cover a broad range of services aimed at establishing and improving telehealth services, also referred to as connected care services, especially for low-income and veteran patients.
The awarded funds were awarded primarily to programs that intend to provide internet connectivity, broadband access, remote patient monitoring and video visit capabilities to low income and rural communities.
