The remains of 40 unidentified WWII U.S. military personnel have been returned home to Hawaii from the Philippines.
Upon arrival to Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, Hawaii, an “Honorable Carry” ceremony was conducted as the remains of the 40 fallen individuals were disembarked from the aircraft.
The remains were removed from the Manila American Cemetery and Memorial. The Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency was responsible for exhuming and returning the fallen servicemembers to the U.S., according to a report published by Military Times. It was one of the largest projects that the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency has undertaken.

The Hawaii National Guard deployed a cargo plane specially outfitted as a “mobile vaccination clinic” to neighbor islands this week in the first round of a campaign to inoculate guardsmen off Oahu.
The C-17 Globemaster III from the National Guard’s 154th Wing operating out of Joint Base Pearl Harbor Hickam carried soldiers and airmen to vaccinate fellow guardsmen helping in the response to the COVID-19 pandemic, according to a press release from the Air National Guard.

Jan. 6 Hundreds of Hawaii National Guard personnel with the joint task force responding to COVID-19 are getting vaccinated, with some on neighbor islands receiving the Pfizer vaccine Tuesday from the back of a C-17 cargo aircraft during a brief stop.
“These are all people who were activated to support the state ” coronavirus effort, said Hawaii Guard spokesman Jeff Hickman.
The C-17 out of Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam also crewed by Hawaii Guard members stopped on Hawaii island, Kauai and Maui on Tuesday with medical teams on board to vaccinate those among the 150 to 200 joint task force members on each of the neighbor islands.
