By WYATT OLSON | STARS AND STRIPES Published: May 3, 2021 The massive Northern Edge joint exercise kicked off Monday in Alaska, bringing together about 15,000 U.S. airmen, sailors, Marines and soldiers and 240 ships and aircraft, including the Air Force’s newly upgraded fighter, the F-15EX Eagle ll. The two-week field training spans the vast state and the ocean waters near it, with troops concentrated in the Joint Pacific Alaska Range Complex and the Gulf of Alaska. Other sites playing a role include Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Eielson Air Force Base, Allen Army Airfield, King Salmon, Cold Bay, Fairbanks International Airport, Juneau International Airport and Ted Stevens International Airport in Anchorage, the Air Force said in an April 23 news release. Training scenarios will also make use of Fairchild Air Force Base and Joint Base Lewis-McChord in Washington.
13 Airmen from the 821st Contingency Response Group demonstrated agile combat employment capabilities while working with Mobility and Combat Air Forces, during Exercise Rainier War, April 26-30 at Mountain Home Air Force Base, Idaho.
Rainier War brings together multiple units from across Air Mobility Command and Air Combat Command to test ACE capabilities in a simulated contested and operationally limiting environment.
The ACE concept aims to develop Airmen who are proficient in disciplines outside of their normal day-to-day duties. Exercises like this contribute to the evolution of a force of multi-capable Airmen and aircrew, improving mission readiness and increasing capabilities in less than optimal environments.

NEXUS DAWN is a readiness exercise that is a collaborative effort between multiple Air Force Reserve and Guard wings designed to test units’ ability to generate, employ and sustain air operations in a simulated austere environment.
Over the course of a week, many aircraft hours were logged between more than five bases, hundreds Reserve Citizen Airmen and Air National Guardsmen completed multiple training missions and moved tons of cargo.
The manpower, the missions, the equipment, the cargo, the many locations, who is responsible for planning and ensuring execution all of these moving pieces? The logistics planners from multiple locations.

Juston and Kylie Hyatt, both 23, are each scheduled to be arraigned next Thursday on a misdemeanor count filed last week in Tacoma Municipal Court. The Hyatts are pictured at right in a MySpace photo.
According to a Tacoma Police Department report, cops were summoned to the Hustler Hollywood store in early-February after a witness spotted two boys aged 3 and 4 alone inside a Chrysler Town & Country minivan parked outside the business. The witness reported that the children were left unattended “for at least an hour.”
When officers approached the Hyatts inside the Hustler store, Juston Hyatt was carrying “another small child in his arms,” police reported. Hyatt is an Army soldier stationed at Joint Base Lewis-McChord outside Tacoma.
