COLUMBUS, Ind. – Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Chief Deputy, Chris Lane, has thrown his hat into the ring for Bartholomew County Sheriff in the 2022 election. Lane, if elected, would succeed Sheriff Matt Myers.
Lane’s law enforcement career started with the Columbus Police Department, where he spent more than 20 years. He was appointed Chief Deputy Sheriff in 2015.
He graduated from Vincennes University, completed coursework at Indiana University and the Drug Enforcement Administration, and is a 2018 graduate of the FBI National Academy.
In his role as Chief Deputy, he has been responsible for the operation of the JNET (Joint Narcotics Enforcement Team) as well as coordinating multi-agency cooperative efforts including the joint City/County SWAT team.

Eleven people indicted in drug trafficking conspiracy in Pierce, King and Snohomish counties article
SEATTLE - The U.S. Attorney s Office announced Wednesday that eleven people were indicted in a wide-ranging conspiracy for trafficking heroin, cocaine and methamphetamine in a multi-state area.
According to the indictment by a federal grand jury, the conspirators distributed the drugs smuggled into the U.S. from Mexico in Pierce, King, and Snohomish Counties.
Two of the defendants were also charged with conspiracy to commit money laundering for their activities with the drug proceeds.
Today alone, law enforcement seized 18 pounds of heroin, 25 pounds of methamphetamine, as many as 15,000 fentanyl pills, more than $150,000 in cash drug proceeds and 23 firearms.
