LA MESA (CNS) - A 22-year-old man was killed Saturday after he was shot in the chest and neck when he opened the door of his apartment in La Mesa, police said.
The shooting happened at about 12:26 a.m. Saturday at an apartment in the 4300 block of Echo Court, according to Lt. Greg Runge of the La Mesa Police Department.
Witnesses inside the apartment told police the victim was shot when he answered an unexpected knock on the door. He saw two male adults wearing ski masks and black-hooded sweatshirts. One of the suspects immediately opened fire, firing three shots, two of which struck the victim, the lieutenant said.

A 22-year-old man died during surgery after being shot multiple times in his own apartment, according to the La Mesa Police Department.
Investigators said they received several 911 calls at 12:26 a.m. reporting gunshots being heard near 4300 Echo Court. When officers arrived soon after, they found the victim unresponsive with gunshots wounds to the chest and neck.

One person was killed and two others were injured Monday afternoon when a Jeep veered off Interstate 15 and slammed into a tree in Miramar, authorities said.
The apparent solo-vehicle crash happened about 4:15 p.m. when the SUV went off the right side of the freeway’s southbound lanes just south of Miramar Road for unknown reasons, California Highway Patrol Officer Jim Bettencourt said.
One person inside the Jeep died at the scene, according to Bettencourt and San Diego Fire-Rescue Department spokeswoman Mónica Muñoz.
Medics took two other people from the vehicle to Sharp Memorial Hospital, Muñoz said. One was transported as a critical-status patient and the other with less serious injuries.
