Juvenile charged in Murder of Owensboro Teen will be tried as an adult

By Mel Ford May 27, 2021 | 5:34 AM The juvenile charged in the murder of Owensboro teen Corban Henry will be tried as an adult.  His case was transferred to adult court yesterday.  The 17-year old was charged in May in the August 15 th shooting.  Henry was riding on the back of a scooter on West 5 th Street near Kendall Perkins Park when he was shot.  The name of the juvenile will be kept confidential until indicted as an adult in Circuit Court.

(WFIE) - The Owensboro Police Department responded to a reported shooting at Kendall Perkins Park on West Fifth Street. According to OPD, officers were dispatched to the scene Thursday around 4:30 p.m. Police say officers canvased the area and discovered evidence of a possible shooting, but no victim was located on scene. OPD officials say around 5:15 p.m. Thursday, dispatch received information about a 20-year-old man arriving to the emergency room at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital with a gunshot wound. Officers say the injury was non-life-threatening.

14-year old charged with Criminal Mischief in Kendall Perkins vandalism case

By Mel Ford May 13, 2021 | 10:01 AM UPDATE – On Wednesday, May 12th, 2021 Detectives charged a 14-year-old male juvenile with Criminal Mischief 1st Degree (Enhancement) for the hate-based vandalism in this case. On Wednesday, January 6th, 2021 at approximately 8:20 am, the Owensboro Police Department responded to Kendall Perkins Park (1201 West 5th Street) regarding a vandalism that had occurred to a mural at the site. The vandalism included racial slurs and hate-based symbols. Detectives are investigating and ask anyone with additional information to call OPD at 270-687-8888, or leave an anonymous tip with Crime Stoppers at 270- 687-8484.
