MESOPOTAMIA One man is dead and another is in a Cleveland hospital with life-threatening injuries from a two-vehicle crash Sunday on state Route 87, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
Steven A. Drotar, 33, of North Bloomfield, died from injuries he received in the crash after being flown to Cleveland University Hospital.
A second driver, Gerald A. Rigg Jr. 50, of Bristol, also is at the hospital in Cleveland, where he was taken after being stabilized at Geauga University Hospital, according to the patrol.
A release from the patrol states Drotar was traveling east on Route 87 in a Chevrolet Venture van and failed to negotiate a curve, causing him to veer into the westbound lane and hit Rigg’s vehicle, a Chevrolet Suburban, head-on.
