President Joe Biden is facing questions from some in his Democratic party about the amount of aid the US sends to Israel.
How much aid does the US give?
In 2020, the US gave $3.8bn (£2.7bn) in aid to Israel - part of a long-term, yearly commitment made under the Obama administration. Almost all of this aid was for military assistance.
This represents an increase of about 6% (adjusted for inflation) over the spending commitment for the previous decade. © BBC
On top of this, last year the US gave $5m (£3.5m) toward resettling migrants in Israel. The country has a long-standing policy of accepting Jews from other parts of the world as citizens.

President Biden on Friday vowed that his administration would never seize the phone records of journalists after it was disclosed that the Trump administration secretly obtained the records of CNN and Washington Post reporters.
Biden, following a press conference with South Korean President Moon Jae-in, told reporters at the White House it was absolutely, positively wrong to seize reporters communications. I won t let that happen, he said during a brief Q&A with journalists after the official press conference ended.
CNN reported Thursday that the Department of Justice (DOJ) informed its Pentagon correspondent, Barbara Starr, that prosecutors obtained email and phone records from two months in 2017, including from her personal and work correspondence.

President Biden announced Friday that the U.S. would provide coronavirus vaccines for 550,000 South Korean service members at a press conference alongside South Korean President Moon Jae-in. There are 550,000 Korean soldiers, sailors, airmen who work in close contact with American forces in Korea, Biden said. We ll provide full vaccinations for all 550,000 of those Korean forces engaging with American forces on a regular basis, both for their sake and the sake of the American forces.
