Study: Black, Asian and Hispanic workers continue to earn less in Kentucky

By TOM LATEK Kentucky Today May 22, 2021 3 hrs ago FRANKFORT, Ky. (KT) – A new study released Thursday by the Kentucky Council on Postsecondary Education finds that despite growing diversity in Kentucky’s workforce, Black and Asian employees still face income disparities when compared to white peers, even after earning a superior college degree. The CPE analysis shows that, on a median basis, Black, Asian and Hispanic workers in Kentucky continue to earn less than white counterparts do over a lifetime.  In many cases, the gaps are severe. For instance, CPE says Black Kentuckians with an associate degree earn only about 46% of the amount that white workers make over a lifetime with the same credential.  Earnings grow to 55% at the bachelor’s degree level and 57% at the master’s degree level.  However, even with a master’s degree, Black workers still earn less on a median basis than white employees who only have a high school diploma
