Kentucky Auditor Mike Harmon released the 2019 financial audit statement of Christian County Sheriff Tyler DeArmond Monday, which included two comments.
Harmon said the sheriff’s financial statements did not follow the accounting principles generally accepted in the United States; however, the statements are fairly presented in conformity with the regulatory basis of accounting, which is an acceptable reporting methodology.
One of the comments said the Christian County Sheriff’s Office failed to implement adequate internal controls to ensure complete and accurate accounting records were maintained. According to the audit, there were no functioning internal controls in place over the work performed by the former bookkeeper. In addition, the audit said Sheriff DeArmond failed to provide adequate oversight, allowing the former bookkeeper complete control over the accounting and reporting functions. Audit: Good intentions led to bad unemployment insurance results

FRANKFORT, Ky. (LEX 18) â Good intentions, bad results. That s how Kentucky Auditor Mike Harmon describes the decisions made by leaders in the Office of Unemployment Insurance.
In the Statewide Single Audit of Kentucky, Harmon outlines problems with OUI and the Unemployment Insurance fund as deeply concerning to taxpayers and those who have filed for UI benefits.
On Tuesday, Harmon testified before the Senate Economic Development, Tourism and Labor Committee. He said OUI leadership made changes that violated federal law and sacrificed program integrity in an attempt to get payments to unemployed residents more quickly.

In a statement, Harmon said he still had âfull faith in the vaccine itselfâ and the need for as many people to be vaccinated as quickly as possible. He claims to have been unknowingly exposed to the virus and infected either before or after receiving his first dose Monday.
