New Report Says Officers Shouldn t Have Fired Into Breonna Taylor s Home, Casting Doubt on Previous Statements Made by Kentucky AG Daniel Cameron

New Report Says Officers Shouldn’t Have Fired Into Breonna Taylor’s Home, Casting Doubt on Previous Statements Made by Kentucky AG Daniel Cameron New documents from an internal probe into the fatal shooting of 26-year-old Breonna Taylor last year in Louisville, Kentucky, now show that the officers who carried out the no-knock warrant shouldn’t have fired their weapons on the night of March 13, 2020, killing Taylor in her apartment hallway that led to her front door. ABC News and other outlets reported that Sgt. Andrew Meyer of the Louisville Metro Police Department Professional Standards Unit determined in a preliminary report that the three officers, Sgt. Jonathan Mattingly and former police officers Brett Hankison and Myles Cosgrove, who were terminated back in June 2020 and January 2021, respectively, should have held their fire after Taylor’s boyfriend, Kenneth Walker, shot Sgt. Mattingly in the leg as the officers breached the apartment front door. The PSU findings a

Louisville Cops Shouldn t Have Fired into Breonna Taylor s Home: Internal Report

An internal probe into the death of Breonna Taylor that was conducted by two investigators determined that the three Louisville Metro Police Department officers involved, should not have fired shots into her apartment on March 13, 2020. ABC News obtained documents that said Sgt. Andrew Meyer from the department’s Professional Standards Unit determined that the three officers should have held their fire after Taylor’s boyfriend, Kenneth Walker, fired a shot. Meyer’s report was supported by Lt. Jeff Artman: “They took a total of thirty-two shots when the provided circumstances made it unsafe to take a single shot. This is how the wrong person was shot and killed,” Meyer wrote in his report. He added that the officers involved in the raid that resulted in Taylor’s death – Jonathan Mattingly, Brett Hankison, and Myles Cosgrove – violated the department’s use-of-force policy when they ignored the risk of hitting someone who did not pose a threat, ABC reported. The Hill s Morning Report - Presented by Facebook - Infrastructure, Cheney ouster on deck as Congress returns

The series of sit-downs will give leaders a sense if a bipartisan bill is possible by early July, which is Pelosi’s stated goal, or if Democrats will be forced to go it alone and advance a bill via budget reconciliation and a simple majority.    As The Hill’s Jordain Carney notes, the next 100 days will also serve as a crucial test for the majority party. Schumer noted in a recent interview that along with infrastructure, the Senate is likely to vote on a number of partisan measures, including a bill to overhaul federal elections, which Republicans oppose. That legislation, coupled with a progressive push to pass a $15 minimum wage and a Washington, D.C., statehood bill, is amping up the pressure on the Senate to nix the 60-vote legislative filibuster.
